My Biography-Part Six-In United Kingdom!

When I came to England I had two children: one boy and a girl aged 7 & 3 years respectively. I was very lucky have a beautiful daughter and I loved her very much and she was my world. I kissed her affectionately and said good bye to her before I left to England! I wanted to earn some money in England to look after myself and my family.I instructed my wife to teach English to my children so that they may come to England one day! After I entered England I worked under a Srilankan Barrister after obtaining a work permit . At that time I was paid 3.50 pounds per hour! It was not so bad and I managed to look after myself in England! He helped me to obtain the work permit after six months of my arrival. He found my English was useful to attract the Srilankan clients who did not know English very much! Later I left him and worked days and nights to earn money. I did not want to be a fool in front of my Srilankan clique. Most of the Srilankan guys were very industrious and sent money to their families in Srilanka.

I stayed with my friend in Perivale, and engaged in measuring Indian houses for a fee.

Apart from that,I worked in video cassette sorting agencies, photographic shops, mail sorting centers, night clubs and restaurants! Some time I worked more than 24 hours non-stop! I wanted to be a successful man the world! In most of the time my weekly income was nearly 200-250 pounds! I cooked on my own meal and saved money to sent it to my family! During that time my wife had started to built a house for our family in Srilanka! The building of the house costed 1500,000 Rupees during year 2000!

In early stages in England, I lived in Greenford, Harrow,Sheffield,Perivale and Ealing. Since the cost of living was high in London Metropolis , I went to South -York shire where most of the Asians lived. The cost of living was comparatively lower in South-York shire than in London. I registered with the local companies to look for a job. In the mean time I did labor work to earn money for my living!

The British considered each and every minute as valuable and I remember that my boss, the owner of the bar, a lady, deducted 5 sterling pounds from my weekly pay sheet because I was late for 15 minutes on a particular occasion due to the fact I went to hospital ! Even though I explained the circumstances she did not agree to that and confirmed the deduction. On that day I realized how Asians wasted their precious time in Asia without doing anything and being a burden to the society! The British were helpful and understanding and had less bureaucracy compared to Germans who were very rigid in dealing with foreigners!

I went to Manchester and saw the Museum there.I had also seen the Wax Museum, the Planetarium, the British Library, the Shakes pear's House, the Cathedral in Central London ,the famous Rada -Krishna Hindu Temple in Wembley.

I would never forget the experiences I had in the boat ride in River Thames, Sight seeing of the London Tower & the London Eye etc !.
